32 Chinese, four locals killed in North Korea bus accident By Reuters |Published Mon, April 23rd 2018 at 09:49, Updated April 23rd 2018 at 12:11 GMT +3 Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang answers questions about a major bus accident in North Korea, during a news conference in Beijing, China on April 23, 2018. [Photo by Reuters] Chinese tourists have been involved in a major bus accident in North Korea that caused a large number of casualties, China’s state media and the government said on Monday, without giving a precise break-up. Chinese visitors account for about 80 percent of all foreign tourists to North Korea, says a South Korean think-tank, the Korea Maritime Institute, which estimates that tourism generates about $44 million each year in revenue for the isolated country. Chinese diplomats have rushed to the scene of Sunday’s accident in North Hwanghae province, the foreign ministry said. In a Twitter message earlier on Monday, Chinese state television’s English-language channel said a tour bus had fallen off a bridge, killing more than 30 people, but later deleted the message. State television’s main Chinese-language news channel later showed images of a crashed blue bus with its wheels in the air, in footage taken in pouring rain in the dark. It showed at least one person being treated in hospital, but also gave no details of casualties. The North Hwanghae province that borders South Korea is home to Kaesong, an ancient Korean capital thronged by tourists. North Korea is a popular, if offbeat, tourist destination for Chinese, especially those from the country’s northeast.

Strategies To Make Your Travel A Breeze
Traveling is a beloved pastime of folks all around the world. There are so many new cultures to experience. The following article offers suggestions how you can go about making travel plans that suit your preferences.
Make sure you leave extra valuables at home. If you bring a lot of valuables with you, you have a greater chance of losing them or having them stolen.
When venturing abroad, be cautious about getting into taxis. Be certain that the taxi is a real taxi before you enter the car. Anyone can pose as a taxi service, and you don't know what someone might do or where you might be taken.
Take a doorstop if you are staying at a hotel. The little rubber or wooden wedges that hold doors open can also hold doors closed.
Prior to making any reservations, do your homework. Hunt down websites that feature user reviews of anything you might be personally interested in. Also inquire among friends and family to see if any have been before. Doing a little homework will let you know what you can expect, and can help you make smart choices on activities and places to visit at your destination.
Always remember to wear light, comfy shoes for air travel - shoes which you can slip off easily. Security checks at airports now require you to remove your shoes. Comfort is extremely important. When you are in the airport or on the airplane, you will sit more than you will walk, so having good arch supports is not the most important thing. Ideally, you want to be wearing sandals or even flip-flops.
When booking a hotel reservation, ask if renovations will be underway on those dates. Hammering or drilling could ruin your stay. There really isn't much a hotel can do for you during the times they renovate, so you are probably better off choosing another hotel during those dates.
Taking a sleeping pill can make a red-eye flight much easier. Many people find it difficult to sleep on an airplane, between the unfamiliar surroundings, uncomfortable seats, and passenger and aircraft noise. To get through your flight as painless as possible, take a sleeping pill to help ensure you can fall asleep. You do not want to take the pills right before you take off, because if there is any type of problem or delay, you need to be alert.
Not everyone can afford to stay at the Ritz, and sometimes you get stuck at a less than one-star hotel. If the area seems a bit shady, make sure you take along a rubber doorstop. In addition to locking and chaining the door, you can wedge this beneath your door. This will help you and your family to stay safe.
Always prepare for an emergency when going to a foreign country. This includes coming up with a plan for losing your passport. The United States State Department keeps a website available for you to check information on contacting the Consulate or U.S. Embassy in the country you are visiting. Carry this information when you go on the trip. In most cases, your replacement passport will be ready for you within a day or two.
